Favorite Book of 2022:
A Woman Is No Man by Etaf Rum
I will keep my copy of this book until I pass away. This book chronicles 3 generations of Palestinian women as they immigrate to and grow in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Rum gracefully navigates subjects of abuse and tradition through 3 characters’ individual values and experiences, tied together through family and social expectations. I loved how this book showed a change over time without washing over the time it takes for change to happen. This book was amazing.
